Free Summer Bowling For Students at Brunswick Bowling Centers

Brunswick Bowling Centers are offering free bowling for students during the summer of 2012. Kids or their parents (depending on age) sign up for Brunswick's Bonus Zone to get free bowling.

There are a few Brunswick Bowling Centers along the front range that offer the free bowling for kids promotion.

2017 National Park Free Days

The National Park Service offers free entrance to all National Parks a few times each year. This is a great way to explore our beautiful Colorado park lands.

Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs (always free)

Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is probably the most beautiful small park in the state. Paved trails make it easy to wander around and check out the amazing cliffs and spires. Picnic areas, paved and unpaved hiking trails, horseback riding, a trading post, and a visitor's center with amazing views; Garden of the Gods is a great place to spend a day.

A Taste of Colorado (Labor Day Weekend)

A Taste of Colorado is Colorado's largest Labor Day Weekend festival. This festival highlights diverse cuisine from Colorado restaurants, offering bite size tastes to full meals.

Copper Country Music Festival (Labor Day Weekend)

Each year over Labor Day Weekend, Copper Mountain Ski Resort hosts the free Copper Country festival, with two full days of country, blues, and folk music from top name performers.

Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland (Annually in March)

2014's Frozen Dead Guy Days will be celebrated March 7 through March 9.  The highlight of the event is really the Polar Plunge, where anyone can sign up to take a dive in a freezing pond. Some people do it for the thrill, some do it to raise money for charities, and some are just plain nuts. There is also a coffin race, hearse parade, music, and many other bizarre activities (frozen turkey bowling???). This is one of the most popular things to do in March for front range residents with cabin fever.

This is probably the wierdest festival I've ever heard of, even wierder than Manitou's fruitcake toss or Leadville's ski Joring. Come and learn about the history of the frozen dead guy and observe some of Nederland's finest citizens enjoying a day in the mountains.

Traffic can become a real problem for the small town so plan accordingly. Parking is available on the side streets but getting to them can take a while.

The event is held in Nederland, Colorado (at the top of Boulder Canyon west of Boulder). 

As more people down in town learn about this festival every year, it has grown from a small event for members of the mountain community to a really crowded winter festival for everyone in the front range. If the crowds don't bother you, come check it out:

City Park Jazz

Looking for free Denver music? City Park in downtown Denver has a free summer jazz concert schedule with top performers. 

Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden (free days)

The top Colorado attraction for train enthusiasts also has free days! A few free days are held each year at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. This museum features a diverse collection of trains, some restored and some not, located outdoors. You can climb aboard some of them. There are also indoor museum exhibits and a huge indoor miniature train layout that is operated by quarters.

The Littleton History Museum (always free)

The Littleton Museum is a 14 acre indoor and outdoor history museum depicting Colorado pioneer history. Two historic farm sites featuring a schoolhouse and blacksmith shop bring history to life in a way that consistently rates this museum as one of the top living history museums in the United States.

Monarch Mountain Free Day (April)

For 2013, Monarch Mountain is offering a free lift ticket in April if you purchase a $10 GEMS card.

Half Fast Subs (Boulder)

Half Fast Subs in Boulder has one of the largest menu choices I've ever seen at a restaurant. The hardest thing to do at this place it to make a decision between the hot subs, cold subs, veggie subs and even salads. Whatever you chose, you won't be disappointed.

The free Celestial Seasonings tour is a fun way to learn about tea and tea making, while sampling the most popular Celestial Seasonings flavors!  A stop at the Celestial Seasonings tour is a favorite vacation destination if you're traveling to Colorado.

Patsy's Candies Tour in Colorado Springs (always free)

Patsy's Candies in Colorado Springs takes the making of chocolate candy to a whole new level. Free tours of their factory demonstrate the handcrafted nature of Patsy's Candies and highlight the artisanship present in their high quality candies. 

Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs (always low cost)

Howelsen Hill Ski Area is a historic ski area and Olympic training grounds operated by the city of Steamboat Springs, and is one of the only ski areas left in Colorado that is affordable on a daily basis. This ski area is a decent place for downhill skiers and snowboarders to make some quick laps, and features a nice terrain park, but it is especially nice for Cross Country / Nordic skiers.

There are only a handful of downhill runs served by 1 rope tow and 1 chair lift, but there are miles of Nordic trails. Howelson is lit for night skiing and often stays open until 8pm.

Oh yeah, the huge ski jumps are off limits to the public but they are an amazing sight!

Steamboat is fairly remote for a day trip, but if you can't afford the lodging in the area, there is a year-round campground that is reasonable called Steamboat Campground.
